    SLC introduces its Environmentally Friendly Latex – Savinex 8200

    Savinex 8200 is an Environmentally Friendly Adhesion Promoted Pure Acrylic Copolymer Emulsion specifically designed for application in premium quality coatings that require adhesion to numerous substrates. This high performance binder exhibits excellent weather durability such as water, UV and scrub resistance. This binder is Formaldehyde and APEO Free and therby assists with environmentally friendly coatings.

History

The Synthetic Latex Company (Pty) Limited was established in 1966 as a joint venture with Revertex South Africa with the styrene butadiene latex manufacturing technology from Doverstrand, Reichold, Synthomer and Yule Catto. The company was incorporated into Sentrachem which was bought by Dow Chemicals in 1997. The divestiture of Sentrachem from Dow Chemicals in 2003 resulted in a management buyout and the establishment of Karbochem Holdings, which presently wholly owns The Synthetic Latex Company (Pty) Ltd. and Karbochem (Pty) Ltd.

Locations

The latex plant is situated in Sasolburg, approximately 90km south of Johannesburg and the Sales and Marketing office is at Eastgate Office Park, Bruma.

The Synthetic Latex Company (Pty) Ltd. has an ISO 9001:2008 certification and the Karbochem Sasolburg site is ISO 14001:2004 certified. The company also has a Five Star rating on the NOSA CMB 253 system, having received its 28th NOSCAR in 2009.
